It started, as the best stories do, somewhere unglamorous, a mutual friend’s dinner, two seats left at the far end of the table, and a shared refusal to leave before dessert.

What followed was months of long calls, longer walks, and the slow, certain feeling of finding someone worth building a life with. Eight years later, after moving across the world together and starting a new chapter in Italy, we got engaged in one of our favourite places.
